This year the theme of world diabetes day is women and diabetes.Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease in which pancreas does not produce insulin or insulin in the body does not work, it is associated with obesity, laziness, reduced physical activity and genetic history in family. Diabetes has worldwide prevalence with highest in some regions and moderate levels in some parts of the world.

According to international diabetes foundation (IDF) approximately 422 million adults have diabetes as of 2016 data and this rate may become 642 million by 2040. Globally 199 million women are affecting with diabetes. One out of every seven women has gestational diabetes.

Women may have diabetes during pregnancy and complications may arise during pregnancy.
