Pakistan council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) conducted a two day conference on biotechnology. The subject of the conference was “Innovation and Commercialization in Biotechnology”. The conference which was held at PCSIR auditorium in Lahore lasted for two days on 25th and 26th April 2018 and a large number of academicians, students, researchers, scientists and industrialists from all over the country and also from abroad attended the event. The conference which was to be inaugurated by minister for science and technology Rana Tanveer but due to his business in other affairs, the event was inaugurated by DG Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Tahir, sources told.
The event was organized by Food and biotechnology research center (FBRC) of PCSIR started at 8 O’ Clock in the morning with Quranic recitation and introductory note was presented by conference secretory Dr. Yasar Saleem. Technical session with plenary lectures was started at 10 AM. All sessions in conference were informative and technical research was presented by various speakers. Poster session with competition was also arranged.
In the concluding session which was presided by Chairperson PCSIR Dr. Shahzad a brief summary of all activities and statical data was presented by conference secretory Dr. Yasar Saleem. Later on talking to microbiology.pk he added that such events bring all scientists at a single plateform and are the major source of contact building not only between institutions but also among scientists. Dr. Quratul ain DG PCSIR Lahore also revealed the importance of the conference and emphasized on the need of conducting such conferences in future too.
Chairman Dr. Shahzad spoke on the advancement and promotion in biotechnology. He also announced the revival of National Commission on Biotechnology and constructing a National center of Biotechnology in Islamabad.
